Monetizing Your Blog

Published by ejobtips at 11:51 pm under Blogging Edit This

You have a blog with great content and lots of visitors. Now how do you start making money off of it?

Well, there are multiple ways that you can do this, and I will try to discuss most of my favorites. The first and easiest way to start making money is by third-party advertising. Some of the popular companies which offer this include Google’s Adsense, Yahoo’s Publisher Network, and Bidvertiser . Out of these, I have had most success with Google Adsense, and the least success with Bidvertiser. These companies are very simple to work with. All you have to do is visit their sites and apply to be a publisher. If they accept you, they will give you some html code which you just have to paste into your blog. And that’s it! Whenever someone clicks on the ads, you usually get paid. A newer form of third-party advertising which recently has appeared is Project Wonderful. This network is more dedicated to small blogs, and it has worked great for me. You basically follow the same steps as the companies above, but other sites will then bid to be in your ad space, and the highest bidder wins the spot.

If you are good at selling products, another great option out there is to become an affiliate. When you are an affiliate, you will be given links to other websites’ products to promote. Each time someone buys the product through your link, you get paid. The advantage with being an affiliate over using third-party ads is that the payout is usually a lot larger, and sometimes is continual. For instance, if you sold someone a subscription to a program, you might get paid each time they renew. Affiliate payments can vary from company to company. Some products will pay less than fifty dollars per sale, but frequently I will see payouts in the hundreds to thousands of dollars per product sold. Some of the companies I recommend for this include: Clickbank, Commission Junction, and Pepper Jam. Between Commission Junction and Pepper Jam, I would have to say that Pepper Jam by far outranks CJ. From other users I have heard that you are more likely to get sales from PJ over CJ. Both of these companies give you very professional products to promote, and include clients such as Ebay. From what I have seen, Clickbank pays well, but the products you are selling seem to be a little shady (eg. Get Rich Overnight Products.)

These tips should help get you started to monetizing your blog. Please subscribe if you enjoyed this post, and if you have any questions please post a comment.  Enjoy!
