Blogging- Creating Your Blog
The first thing to do when beginning to blog is to determine what your topic will be. It needs to be a topic popular enough that people will visit your blog to hear about it, but at the same time unique enough that there aren’t thousands of other blogs on the exact same topic. After you have decided your topic, you next need to decide what your blogging platform will be. Think of your blog platform as the building blocks and foundation of your blog. I consider the easiest blog platform by far to be Blogger.com. Blogger is a blog platform owned by google. It allows you to create your blog in a step by step process and makes it simple to manage your blog. Best of all, it’s free! If you get experienced with Blogger and want to update to a more advanced and customizable platform, then the next step up would be Wordpress. I consider Wordpress to be quite advanced if you plan on managing it, but I have heard from others that it is by far the best platform to use. Unlike with Blogger, you have to have your Wordpress blog hosted, to get all of the features. This means that you will have to pay for hosting. Some of the hosting sites which are recommended by Wordpress include: Dreamhost.com, Bluehost.com, Mediatemple.net, AnHosting.com, Hostican.com, and LaughingSquid.net.
Now that you have chosen your platform, it is time to customize your blog. Firstly, you need to pick a title for your blog that is easy to remember and sticks in peoples heads. In most cases, the shorter the length of the title, the better. After this, it is up to you. You can customize your blog to whatever you think is best. Try to stick with one theme, but personalize it. Make your blog fun to visit. That’s it! You have successfully created your blog.
